Summer Camp and Raftoree

Troop 279 Scouts began the summer by spending 9 days in Maine at North Country Rivers Rafting.  The first 6 days were spent working on the Canoe merit badge on Wyman Lake.  The scouts received canoe instruction and practiced paddling the canoe from the front, the back and the middle (solo).   During the week the Scouts played games, hiked, worked on the Environmental Science and Citizenship in the Community merit badge requirements.  During the final three days the Scouts participated in the first ever Raftoree!  A Camporee focused on White Water Rafting.  The Scout went down the river three times! The received in-depth training on rafting from the talented raft guides at North Country Rivers enabling them to earn the Rafting Merit Badge.   Many thanks to North Country Rivers Rafting!  www.northcountryrivers.com
